Vintage mechanical cast iron bank of Uncle Sam. This bank was manufactured by Shepard Hardware, Company Buffalo, New York. The action on this bank, one places a coin in Uncle Sam’s hand and presses the lever. He lowers his hand and drops the coin into the then open satchel until you release the lever and then the coin drops down into the base of the bank. Uncle Sam’s beard also moves when you depress the lever. This is a fun action bank that will encourage one to save your coins. Works great! This bank is patent June 8, 1886
